Accessibility

Wittevrouwen lies in the north-east of Utrecht, and you can easily walk or cycle into the city centre. Utrecht Central Station is also within easy reach, and several buses run along Biltstraat towards the centre, Utrecht Science Park and De Bilt. By car, Biltstraat and Waterlinieweg take you to the main arterial roads. Across Biltstraat lies Buiten Wittevrouwen, where the streets get wider and the neighbourhood takes on a different character.

Outdoor space

Wittevrouwen is a compact city neighbourhood with little greenery within its streets. Fortunately, Griftpark is right around the corner, with large lawns, a playground, a skate park, sports fields and a children’s farm. Hogelandsepark and Oorsprongpark are close by too. So the greenery may not be right on your doorstep, but it is only a few minutes away on foot or by bike.

On sunny days, Wittevrouwen lives outdoors. Chairs are moved onto the pavement, there is always a queue at Roberto Gelato and Biltstraat is busy. Walk a few streets further and the atmosphere changes instantly. The narrow residential streets, characterful façades and closely packed houses give Wittevrouwen a small, familiar feel.

For many residents, Biltstraat is the place for daily groceries and for everything that is just a little more special. You will find supermarkets, specialist shops, coffee bars, restaurants and boutiques. So for a quick lunch, a good bottle of wine or something tasty for at home, you hardly need to leave the neighbourhood. Sports, healthcare and other everyday amenities are close by as well.

Also worth a look if you are considering Wittevrouwen:

For an extensive dinner, book a table at Restaurant Concours or C’est Ça, while Café Tante Door is just the kind of place where you easily stay for one more beer. Don’t feel like cooking?
